Special Industry Forecast Update: Access New Research

A message from our friends at the Consumer Technology Association:

Dear CTA Members,

I am proud of our industry’s response to this crisis. Technology is keeping us healthy, connected, entertained and informed while millions of us are staying at home. Earlier this week, I posted an article showcasing just a few examples of the great work CTA member companies are doing to mitigate the pandemic. Technology helps us to stay productive at work as well, and last week I shared my perspective on how technology is enabling this change. I am confident that together, our industry will help pull our economy and country through this crisis.

While technology is a critical part of the solution, the economic storm will have long-term impacts. Today, CTA released our revised sales and forecast outlook for 2020. Unemployment and downward pressure on consumer spending bring significant headwinds, but the tech sector remains resilient and indispensable to our everyday lives. We have weathered countless economic storms over the last few decades — and innovation will continue to thrive through these challenges. I encourage you to download the report and share with your teams.

This week, many of us had a chance to convene — albeit virtually — during CTA’s Tech Week. Even though we had no CES on the Hill or Digital Patriots Dinner this year, it was wonderful to connect with so many of you during our virtual meetings. Our next virtual event is CTA’s Tech and Standards Spring Forum. You can now register for individual sessions — COVID-19 Impact: The Current Landscape and a Look AheadAI in Health Care Solutions: Beyond the BuzzHow XR and Robotics Can Transform Health Care and more.

This week, CTA’s Tech Use Tracker update noted higher use of online multiplayer gaming services, in part as a substitute for live sports. Thank you for sharing CTA’s COVID-19 resources, including CTA webinars and our discussion forum with your teams. We continue to welcome your feedback on our Member Resources page.
